A hands-on photography workshop learning how to use recycled materials to create unique photographs of plants without digital post-production.

DATE & TIME: June 22nd, 2025, 1 pm - 3 pm

LOCATION: Evergreen Brick Works

ADDRESS: 550 Bayview Ave, Toronto

ACCESSIBILITY: Fully Accessible

TRAVEL: TTC Accessible, Free Shuttle Bus, On-site Parking

As an introduction to creative photographic techniques, this workshop will begin with a refresher on natural lighting, composition, camera settings, and then dive into a variety of techniques for creating unique photographic effects and abstractions with recycled materials. Tallie will share a little bit about herself, her artistic practice, and native plants, and we will use the learned techniques to photograph plants on site. Basic photography experience is not required but is recommended. Please supply your own camera (a phone camera is not recommended). Some recycled materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own item(s) from home to make the experience (and their photos) unique to them. Some material examples include: translucent or clear plastic containers, sheer fabrics, used cellophane, clear plastic bags, see-through plastic plates or cups, doilies, etc. Anything you can see through, so long as the material is larger than the size of your camera’s lens. Note *please do not bring glass materials for safety purposes*
