A dramatic portrait of a bright red Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis) in its full bloom stage, set against the deep greens of the Georgian Bay forest. Native to Southern Ontario, Cardinal Flowers support local biodiversity, providing a high-quality food source for Ruby Throated Humming Birds and Swallowtail Butterflies, along with many other species native to Ontario. Mindful of her impact, Tallie captures her subjects in a way that reflects her personal experience with nature, both visually and emotionally, as part of her meditative practice. Through her photographs, she hopes to reframe native plants in a new light, inspiring the public to implement them in gardening projects, with the goal of increasing local biodiversity, climate resilience, and conservation efforts through grassroots actions.
